Ciara Doherty is one of Ireland’s most established broadcasters, with more than 20 years’ experience across television, radio and live events. A qualified Barrister-at-Law, she brings authority, intelligence and natural ease to every platform she works across.
Ciara is a familiar voice on Newstalk, where she hosts the daily podcast Newstalk Daily, delivering sharp, engaging conversations on the stories shaping Ireland and beyond.
She is uniquely positioned as one of the few broadcasters to have anchored both of Virgin Media Television’s flagship programmes — from the energy and pace of breakfast television on Ireland AM to the political “hot seat” of The Tonight Show, where she led live national debates and high-stakes interviews on the issues defining the country. Moving seamlessly between formats, Ciara has demonstrated her ability to handle everything from breaking news and political scrutiny to lifestyle, culture and human-interest storytelling.
Her work also includes producing and presenting documentaries such as At Home with the Healy Raes and At Home with Country Music, showcasing her strength in long-form, character-led storytelling.
Beyond broadcasting, Ciara is a highly experienced MC and moderator, regularly hosting conferences, corporate events and live panel discussions. Known for her meticulous preparation, sharp questioning and warm, assured presence, she brings credibility and polish to every stage.
Ciara studied Law at UCD before completing a postgraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism in London. After working with ITV on programmes including the Pride of Britain Awards, she joined Newstalk Breakfast in 2006. She returned to Dublin in 2016 to qualify as a Barrister.
